Ambassador Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed was born on 24th August, 1967 in Jigawa State, Nigeria. He attended Bayero University Kano where he obtained B.Sc. (Accounting) in 1992. Between 2002 and 2004, he was at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom; Centre for Management Development, Lagos, Nigeria; and Foreign Service Training Centre, Ankara, Turkey for short courses. He is married and has five children.
 Professional Experience Â
H.E. Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. He has, since then, risen through the ranks and excelled in the diplomatic service. From 2019 until his appointment as Ambassador to the State of Qatar, he was the Director of Protocol to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Â
From 2016 to 2019, he was a Deputy Director of Protocol in the Office of the President. Ambassador Yakubu also served as Director of Protocol to the Wife of the Vice President from 2010 to 2011 and served in the same capacity in the Office of the First Lady of Nigeria from 2009 to 2010. His Excellency has also served in various capacities in the diplomatic missions, departments, divisions, and parastatals under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including an Administrative Officer at the Directorate of Pilgrims Affairs (1995-1998), Personal Assistant to the Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (2003–2007), Administrative Officer and First Secretary at Nigeria High Commission in London, United Kingdom (1998-2003), Consul/Head of Chancery at the Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg, South Africa (2007–2008) and Head of Chancery at the Nigeria Embassy in Tokyo, Japan (2012–2016).  Â
